OllyDog
Park Sling
Dogs require accoutrements, some of them so utterly unique to their species that they should have their own packs. (Think mud, slobber, and poo.)
For now, I'm carrying Red's gear in my OllyDog Park Sling. It's am amazingly useful pack that was clearly designed with dog owners in mind.
The Park Sling is a single strap pack (wide and nicely padded) which can be worn over the shoulder or across the chest like a messenger bag (my preferred style since Red is a rambunctious girl and I don't want the pack to slide off when I move).
On the front of this strap is a zippered pouch I use for the least pleasant aspect of this dog business - poo bags. I put in the string of new bags at the top, and pull out the first bag through a rubberized hole at the bottom. Then I zip up the pouch for an easy-dispenser of baggies. Love this feature!
The pack has two large compartments on the inside. I usually pack them with food, water, and a windbreaker. Plus, the trashy paperback I'm going to read at the dog park while Red's off romping with her own kind. There are nice little details inside, too, like a key clip so I don't have to rummage through my stuff to retrieve them.
The Sling has an outer mesh pocket, which is great for wet dog toys, or for the aromatic filled baggies. Or whatever you want to keep away from the stuff on the inside.
I never thought I'd need a day pack just for dog stuff, but now I won't use anything else. It's a quality gear piece of gear that I'd recommend to anyone who takes their dog farther than "just around the block" on their walks.
