The LTM6C Tilley AIRFLO ® Hat with Tuckaway Neck Protector : Ideal Sun and Bug Protection

Fly fishing is one of my all-time favorite outdoor pastimes, and because it's so much fun and engaging the constant harsh sun exposure from the water sometimes gets the best of me.

Recently, I started wearing a Tilley Airflow ® Hat with Tuckaway Neck Protector during my outings, and it has greatly minimized the sun exposure that comes with the sport. In addition to the protection provided by the wide brim, this particular hat comes with a neck protector cloth that, when needed, drapes down across the back of my neck to add greater sun protection to an area I often forget to cover. When not in use, I can simply tuck it back up inside a cleverly designed pocket in the rear brim of the hat.

I've known for years that Tilley was a great brand and have admired their sharp looks every time I've seen someone wearing one. It wasn't until I actually had one of my own, though, that I realized the true quality construction and extra attributes that come with these high performing hats. The Tilley Airflow Hat I have blocks 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and delivers an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 50+, which is the maximum rating given.

In addition, it has been treated with an insect repellent to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges! With all of the swarms of bugs that fly in my face, especially when on the water in the evenings, this hat has been effective at deterring buzzing pests! The durable nylon used is also designed to resist mildew.

Another think I like about the LTM6C Tilley AIRFLO ® Hat -- its easy care instructions. The Tilley Airflo Hat is made of nylon and strong polyester mesh, so when it gets dirty I just toss it into the washing machine with my clothes. It comes out looking just like new. The manufacturer promises that my Tilley hat should last through 70 launderings and is guaranteed for life. If it ever wears out, they will replace it free of charge. How many companies will stand behind their products like that these days? Not many!
