Spectacle Eyeworks Frames (SE105) : Simple, Sassy, Sophisticated

Whenever I need new glasses, I like to get an "every day" pair and a funkier pair for special occasions. I'm also obsessed with black frames. I love wearing brightly colored frames, too. Basically, I'd like to have a different pair for each day!

My new Spectacle Eyeworks frames cover a couple of these bases. They're black and ideal for every day wear, but by no means are they ordinary. I love the fanciful black design that runs along the temples; it's looks as if it's been etched into the plastic. (The temples are made out of plastic with a metal core.)

I love the way these glasses look delicate while being very sturdy (I can't stand flimsy frames). I love how they fit my head perfectly. They passed the shake test with flying colors (basically, I shake my head in all directions as far as possible - I can only wear frames that do not move when I do this). I love how Spectacle Eyeworks has taken the most popular frame shape this year (the rectangle) and given it thin lines, a bit of attitude at the corners, gentle curves, and a true, deep black color.

I first thought I'd use them as reading glasses (I refuse bifocals, preferring reading glasses and walking around and driving glasses), but when I took them in for the prescription lenses I changed my mind. The ladies at the office loved them, I took another look at myself in the mirror and realized that I looked to darn good to relegate these gorgeous frames to indoor duty. I work at home, so nobody would get to see how cute I look.

The SE 105 frame comes in black, gold, blue, and green. If you are fancy enough to get yourself fitted into a pair of Spectacle Eyewear frames, you'll find a variety of styles -- from fun to completely funky. Each frame comes in a groovy hard-side case emblazoned with the SE logo. The black border and the unique shape .of the case remind me of Batman or Cat Woman...or some type of caped crusader.
