Smith Optics Interlock Crossroads Sunglasses : For Men and Women

Over the years, I've had the pleasure of wear testing many pairs of Smith Optics sunglasses. I've always found a great fit, with the added bonus of sporting hip shades that have elicited more than a few "cool shades" comments from people half my age. I dig that.

I have a cute, small head, so I need small frames. Until I discovered the Crossroads I was a strictly wrap-around frame person. However, my eyesight is getting worse, so I wanted frame style that would accommodate a prescription lens. I also wanted a frame more suited to urban wear--something more stylish than sporty.

The Crossroads have slightly larger lenses than my eyeglasses and have a different fit than my wrap-around sunglasses since they're straight-on rather than curved. So, it took me awhile to get used to eyewear that has a looser fit.

Naturally, I chose the black frames--makes the silver temple decoration/logo stand out. Naturally, I've received many compliments.

The Crossroads come with three interchangeable sets of polarized lenses for different sun conditions. They also come in a nice protective semi-rigid padded case (tough enough to toss in my backpack - not strong enough to accidentally sit on), with a detachable pouch with little sleeves for the extra lenses. It's really easy to replace lenses - I just twist the frame and out they come.

Thanks to my vision insurance, I was able to get polarized, prescription lenses made from another pair of Crossroads frames (which arrived in a cool black square case - hard on three sides and looks like leatha). Now I'm good to go anywhere. My eyes aren't so bad that I absolutely have to wear glasses, except when I'm driving and need to street signs.

Bottom LIne: Another winner from Smith Optics. I've been wearing mine around town and on daily power walks. Loving having clear vision and the no-squint comfort of polarized lenses in a fashion forward frame.--E.D. (June 09)
