Smartwool Synergy Pullover : A Smart Blend
Smartwool's Synergy Pullover is a versatile, attractive, wool/nylon blend top that works well as a mid layer in cold weather and as a top layer in "in between" weather. I've worn this top in 30-40 degree temps over a microweight Smartwool top and under a wind blocking rain parka for hikes and walks. It did a great job of keeping me warm, and wicking away sweat. For more active pursuits, such as cross-country skiing, you might not need to wear a top layer. Now that the temps are rising, I've been wearing the Synergy pullover as a top layer in 40-50 degree weather, with the same results. It's a comfortable, less bulky alternative to fleece jackets and thick, cotton sweatshirts (does anyone still wear those?). The inner merino wool layer feels soft against my skin and does a great job of wicking. The stretchy nylon outer layer gives the pullover a soft shell appearance and a trim fit. Nice. Available in men's and women's sizes, and in a variety colors. The men's pullover (pictured above) has a half-zip, mock neck, and chest pocket, and the women's pullover has the same features, with the pocket on the sleeve instead of the chest. Bottom Line: A smart piece for all seasons.--E. D. (March 07) Price: $140 Manufacturer's Site: www.smartwool.com |
