SealLine Urban Backpack : Keep Your Stuff Dry

I'm not a bike messenger, but I still need a totally waterproof bag. I carry important documents, too!

The first time I used my SealLine Urban Backpack I was schlepping precious cargo--my 200-page manuscript-- to Kinko's for photocopying. It was pouring rain, but since I'd made a pact with myself not to use my car for errands less than two miles from home, I had to trust the bag.

Of course, the bag performed beautifully. My documents arrived crisp and dry.

The Urban Backpack is like a large waterproof shopping bag. There's no real structure to the bag (which is nice--it folds down flat for easy storage) except a removable piece of cardboard against the back of the inside of the bag.

Using the bag is simple. Place contents inside, roll down top, attach hook, and you're good to go. There's a medium sized zippered pocket on the outside of the front of the bag -- for a cell phone or wallet.

Since that blustery day, I've worn my SealLine pack on several long distance errands in sunshine and in rain. I can fit a bag of groceries in it, and I've been impressed at how comfortable the padded shoulder straps are for a such a bulky bag--even filled with organic food for a two-mile urban hike. The pack also has a sternum strap, a nylon hip belt, and a square piece of dense foaming on the back, encased in mesh for easy drying. The bag also comes with a removable accessories pouch.

Bottom Line: This bag has helped me stick to my walk-no-matter-the-weather pact. I like the basic bag shape because I can carry all sorts of items in it, especially boxed papers from Kinko's.--E. D. (April 07)
