My Oiselle Lesley Knicker is the best piece of athletic gear I never knew I always wanted. They fit snug like tights but are cut off just below the knee- perfect for cooler nights in Southern California where it never gets cold enough to need full pants on a run.
I imagine they would also be great for the shoulder seasons in climates that actually do see a temperature change. Pants always seem to cause me to overheat and they get in the way with so much. But these knickers keep my quads and knees protected from the evening chill--a great feature since my knees tend to ache when they get too cold--without ever making me feel weighed down.
I am not usually much of a tights wearer, but these knickers may have converted me. Made of nylon spandex, the Lesley Knicker actually feels like my favorite old cotton pants, but performs much better for sweaty activities. They also have a nifty patch of open breathable mesh behind the knees for ventilation which helped to keep me cool, and kept the tights from getting wet in the crease when I started to sweat. I alaso appreciate the handy zippered pocket at the back of the waistband that rests comfortably on my lower back and is big enough for a key, a credit card, and a pack of Gu.
Not only was I pleased with the excellent fit (and they come in size XS) and the function of the tights, but I always need athletic items that can be used for a variety of activities. These fit the bill as I found that they doubled as yoga tights! The substantial waistband and slightly higher rise than I am used to assured that I wasn't showing anything I shouldn't have, even in the most compromising of downward dog positions.
