Of the Earth Deep Play Skirt : A Few of My Favorite Things

It's always tricky finding the right skirt. So many styles, so many fit issues.

For chillier temps, I wanted something longer than my above-the-knee cotton skirts, but not so long I couldn't break into a sprint if my life depended on it. Of the Earth has me covered with the Deep Play skirt, a below-the-knee-not-quite-calf-length skirt that's perfect paired with my lace-up suede boots.

Made out of thick rich brown organic cotton (also available in purple), the Deep Play is a casual skirt with some thoughtful design features that make it easy to dress up with a smart black turtleneck sweater. I love the elastic waistband, which also has a drawstring, I get the fit I want and have the freedom to gain a few pounds and still fit into this comfy skirt.

Beneath the waistband, they've added a curved yoke, so the skirt hangs nicely off of my hips and stays smooth over my bum. (It's definitely a bum-flattering skirt, if I do say so myself.) The curved hem and A-line cut also help the skirt hang well and give it some motion.

I love this skirt because it fits so well, it feels like it's made out of sweatshirt material (the ultimate comfort fabric), it's easy to care for, and it looks great on me.

I'm all for organic apparel, but I'm not into wearing frumpy clothes for the sake of walking the eco-conscious talk. Luckily there's nothing hippy about the Deep Play; it's a stylish skirt that just happens to be super comfortable.

Bottom Line: What's not to love about a versatile skirt that's lovingly made from organic cotton. --E.D. (Dec '07)
