The North Face Rucky Chucky Trail Shoes : Fastpacking Fabulous
I just returned from a seven-day adventure fastpacking around the Pasayten Wilderness of Northern Washington. I wore my North Face Rucky Chucky Trail Runners all 100+ miles of it. They went the distance without incident and were everything I had hoped they'd be. Because of the length of this trip I wanted a shoe that was lighter than a boot, but because I'd be carrying a pack and that I'd heard some of the trail was in poor condition I wanted something more substantial than a running shoe. My Rucky Chuckys were the logical choice. Just a few paces from the car it became evident that the trail would be as rugged as I had anticipated. Over the course of the week my Rucky Chucky shoes carried me over crumbly rocks, soft sand, mud, and a few segments of nicely groomed trail. The aggressive tread and semi-stiff (for a running shoe) sole handled it all like a champ. I could feel the terrain but it wasn't hard on my feet. And the nubuck reinforcements around the lower parts helped keep mud and debris out of my shoe. My route crossed several streams and a few rivers. Many required me to wade through in my shoes. Because of the well-ventilated uppers, it only took a short while for my feet to begin to dry out. I'm sure this helped to keep my feet blister-free the whole week. Available in Men's and Women's sizes in a variety of colors.
