Nathan L.E.D. Safety Strobe : Brighten Your Night

You know those little flashing red lights that cyclists wear at night? A great idea for nighttime runners and walkers, too.

Whenever I go out at night I wear a Nathan L.E.D. Safety Strobe. This compact, lightweight light is only a couple of inches long and a centimeter deep, with a clip on the back. It's easy to attach to my waistband or to the outside of my pack if I'm carrying one.

According to Nathan, the strobe is visible up to 2500 feet (a car moving at 60 mph needs at least 1200 visibility to see you). The light has a variety of settings, and because the encasing is read, all emit red beams. I can use the light at full beam, have it flash rapidly or slowly, or select and alternating strobe.

Bottom Line: Why take chances with your safety. If you're going to be out in the dark, make sure cars can see you.--E .D. (Feb 09)
