Mountain Khakis Granite Creek Short : Packable and Practical
If I'm just gonna be hanging around the house, I don't give much thought to what I wear. If I have to fit all my stuff into one small bag for a two-week stay at a cabin in the Colorado Rockies, I put great thought into which clothes I bring. My Mountain Khakis Granite Creek Shorts were high on my Colorado packing list because I knew I could throw them on and be ready for whatever I wanted to do on any given day. One such day featured whitewater rafting and a complex car shuttle that involved dropping off and picking up people along the way. Because I had roomy, but not floppy, zippered pockets on my Mountain Khakis shorts I was the keeper of the keys while we paddled down the river. I knew that even if I were bucked out of the boat in a rapid I wouldn't lose them in the churning water. The other thing that made my Granite Creek Shorts so great for rafting is that they dried quickly, so when it was my turn to drive the van I did get the seat soaked. The shorts are made out of a lightweight, brushed nylon material that dries fast and has built-in UPF 50 sun protection (UVA/UVB). They also have a gusseted inseam, which I like because it gives me more range of motion when I'm on the go. On another day there was a photo scavenger hunt that involved driving all over the Fort Collins area. Not that driving around looking for a statue of a blue horse really requires any special clothing, but the combination of material and design make them so versatile that they were just as appropriate for dashing around town as they were on the river. I spent most of my two-week vacation in my Mountain Khakis Granite Creek Shorts, and loved every minute of it. Available as a long pant in men's and women's styles and sizes. Bottom LIne: A practical pair of shorts perfect for summer's adventures. --A.S. (Aug 10) BUY ONLINE : $55,
