Keen Growler Boot : Snow Shoes to Boot

I almost felt bad when I went snowshoeing the other day with another tester from this site, and she asked what type of footwear I'd be wearing with my snowshoes.

Everyone else in the group was wearing heavy hiking boots. Not me. I had something so much better: Keen Growler Boots. Lightweight, waterproof, and PrimaLoft® insulated to -25 degrees F, these bad ass boots are perfect for snowshoeing (and walking or hiking in rainy, snowy, cold weather).

It's hard enough trekking through fresh powder; lightweight boots make a big difference.

The Growler boots have the same lugged, thick sole and toe protection as other Keen trail footwear; a quick- lace system; and a removable footbed. Available in both men's and women's sizes and in three colors.

Note: I found the Growler boots to run a bit short, but I also wear a full-length orthotic. If you're on the long end of your size and wear orthotics, you might want to go up a 1/2 size.

Bottom Line: These are the perfect winter boots for people who might not ordinarily buy winter boots (such as people who live in snow-free zones like Seattle) and for people who definitely buy winter boots (such as people who leave Seattle to play in the mountains).--E. D. (Jan 07)

Worldwide there are more than 12,000 species of ferns. In New Zealand, the silver fern is the national symbol. According to Maori culture, the unfurling tip of the fern, called a "koru," represents the cycle of life and death. This image is often used in art and jewelry.
