I/O Bio Loose Contact 3/4 Tight : For Men and Women
I've found the pant I'm going to wear for the rest of my life--I/O Bio's Loose Contact 3/4 Tight. It's the perfect hybrid of sweat pant and tight, made out of ultra thin, luxuriously soft merino wool. I overheat easily, so I'm always looking for exercise and hiking pants made out of materials as light as my favorite shirts are. No luck until I found I/O Bio's Loose Contact 3/4 Tight. This is hands down the lightest pant I've ever worn, and because merino wool is so good at wicking and breathing this "tight" is my first choice for everything I do. It performs beautifully in terms of helping me regulate my temperature. I've worn it in temps around 70 degrees and never felt too hot and in temps down to 50 degrees under a rain pant and felt plenty warm. The wide elastic waistband is nice and loose so the tight sits just above my hips, which for me is the ideal fit. I absolutely love the style and cut of the Loose Contact 3/4 Tight. I get a loose fit through the seat and thighs, with a tapered hem that hits just below my knees. The fabric hovers around my knee (rather than hugs it like a true tight would), giving me total freedom of movement. So, I get the slim profile and active fit of a tight with the comfort of a sweat pant. Best of all, no fabric flapping around my knees when I'm hiking up a slippery trail or power walking around my 'hood.
I wear my I/O Bio Loose Contact 3/4 Tight for yoga, hiking, lounging, and anything else my day throws at me. I've never been a fan of tights, so the loose fit is ideal for me whether I wear the tight as a base layer or outer layer. Recently I wore my Loose Contact 3/4 tight on a road trip/camping trip and didn't take them off for four days. It's like wearing my favorite pajama bottoms, with the added bonus of wool's high performance features. Because wool is naturally odor resistant, I wear this tight for days and days without washing. Available in black in men's (S-XXL) and women's sizes (XS-XL). I tested a women's size L, and loved the fit. I'm usually a size 10. The XL was too big. (Other colors available at Amazon.com. See shopping links below.) Bottom LIne: Easily the most comfortable, most versatile piece of apparel in my gear closet.--E.D. (Sept. '10) BUY ONLINE : $69.99. Click to shop.
