Green Label Organic T-Shirt : Look Better, Feel Better, Save the Planet
I've always loved the graphic tees I see in designer shops; I just haven't been able or willing to pay $50 (or more) for one. Now I've found the perfect graphic t-shirts, and they're even better than the designer tops I used to covet because they're organic! And because they have more than a dozen designs and colors, all bearing eco-friendly messages. Plus, they're only $29! Available in men's, women's, and kids sizes, you can choose between "Organic Revolution," "Fair Trade," "Save What's Left," "Karma Coffee Company," "Organic Rocks," "Green Power," "Mother Earth," and other slogans/designs. I love my Green Label shirt because the cotton is so lightweight; it feels like I'm wearing one of my old rock concert t-shirts (minus the holes and stains). Green Label has done an excellent job of taking the basic t-shirt, and making it so much cooler. Both the men's and women's shirts are cut pretty straight, yet because of the thin cotton, they don't look or feel boxy. I'm 5'11" and tested a women's size L; it's a perfect fit. I like that there's no fancy stitching, no Lycra, no contours; it's just a sweet, sustainable top that I feel good about wearing. Most important, it's a great fit (and pre-shrunk, thank you); it's loose enough to hang well, but not so thin it clings to my body. I wish I had five of these! Our male tester also found his Green Label shirt to be a good fit, and like me, enjoyed the variety of color choices. Green Label uses low-impact dyes, so they have a more natural palette than other t-shirts I've seen. Their purple shirts look like they were dyed with purple flowers. All of the colors seem like they came right out of nature (or at least would blend in well). We love the washing instructions printed on the inside of the shirt, which encourage wearers to use biodegradable detergents and save energy by line drying. Their stance on ironing: you won't hurt the shirt, but "do people really iron t-shirts?" Bottom Line: Green Label's motto is: Respect Labor, Respect the Planet, Respect Yourself. You gotta love that. Check the online retailers listed below for Green Label t-shirts. If you can't find what you need, visit the Green Label site. They're tops are also sold nationwide at Whole Foods.--E.D.
