Ex Officio Men's Give-N-Go Boxers : Pack Light

About a month ago I took a week-long trip to Belize, and I packed exactly one pair of underwear. Seriously.

I stayed clean the entire time because my underpants were Ex Officio's Give-N-Go boxer briefs. They're super compressible and they dry in just a few hours, so I just washed them before bed, let them air all night, and wore them all day. Thanks to the antimicrobial finish, they didn't start to stink, either.

I like these briefs for many reasons, but let's start with my travel habits. I can't stand waiting around in airplane terminals for my luggage to come out, so I usually travel with a single carry-on bag. Because I am a 6'2" male, my clothes -- size large and extra large -- take up a disproportionately large amount of space in my luggage compared to my size two girlfriend's tiny apparel, so I have to be extremely careful about what I bring.

Cotton shirts take up more space than polypro shirts. I wear lightweight pants instead of jeans. White tube socks are out; thin athletic socks are in. It goes all the way down to my underwear. Cotton boxers take up space; Ex Officio's boxer briefs don't.

Aside from their feathery weight and quick-drying nature, these boxer briefs are highly wicking and breathable. That's always nice, but it was especially welcome in the tropical humidity of Belize. Without going into too much detail, I have had the misfortune of requiring talcum powder in the jungle due to damp underwear. You can read into that however you want, but thanks to the proprietary Give-N-Go nylon/spandex fabric in these boxer briefs, I will never again worry about tropical funk in the nether regions. For this, I am eternally grateful.

Added bonus: the briefs come in a beefy reusable plastic pouch that's perfect for carrying maps or passports. Props to ExOfficio for the intelligent, useful packaging.

Anyway, I love my new boxer briefs. I think I'm going to get a few more pairs and save them exclusively for travel, backpacking, and any endeavor that requires judicious use of pack space.

Available in white, green, black, gray and blue.

Bottom Line: The perfect travel and backpacking underwear: lightweight and fast drying.--N.W. (Dec. '08)
