Ellington Joni Hobo Bag : Take It Anywhere

I usually like to come up with my own descriptions of the products I review, but Ellington's hybrid adjective, "casual-chic," aptly characterizes their Joni Hobo Bag.

Made out of a thick, textured leather (they call it "pebbled"), the Joni Hobo is both rugged and fashionable. I like the simple design, the chunky zippers, and its ample carrying capacity.

The zippered-top Joni Hobo Bag is 13" H x 11.5" W x 5" D and has a flat bottom, reinforced with four metal "feet," so I can set it down on a table and it stands up on its own for easy access. Inside the bag there's a zippered pocket that's ideal for a passport and other flat items, a sleeve on the other side where I stash my iPod, and two sleeves for pens.

I appreciate those organization features because they help me find what I need quickly. There's a handy metal clip for my keys, a small detail that also saves me time and the hassle of digging through my bag for them every time I go to my car or arrive home. There's also a zippered pocket on the outside of the bag that's big enough for a cell phone and a nutrition bar. Perfect!

I admit, I'm more of a backpack gal than a purse gal, but I love the Joni Hobo Bag. It's a nice change to have a grownup bag that says, "downtown." I use the bag as an every day purse and as an overnight bag. It's big enough to hold a small cosmetics bag, change of underwear, a t-shirt, and a my favorite pull-on skirt.

I can carry the Joni Hobo Bag as a tote or over my shoulder. There's only one thing I'd change about this bag. I wish it came with two removable straps - short and long - so I could have the option of wearing it messenger-style across my body. Still, it's a fabulous bag with lots of space and plenty of style.
