Dufold Wool Zip Mock Turtleneck

This fall I wore my Duofold wool top during many training runs In preparation for the Seattle half marathon in November.

During my long training runs, I was pleased that I didn't end up with a clothing rash or irritation from the fabric.  I attribute that to the contour female fit of the top and to the tagless label (brilliant idea, Duofold).   The small amount of spandex in the fabric blend provides the needed stretch to flex and fit under my armpits.  As a mid-weight layering piece, it' light enough to easily wear under another top or two, perhaps a hoodie, if need be.  Believe me, warmth will not be an issue. I wore it under one other top during my run in mid-40 temperature and I was comfortable.

Two final features that help protect me from the elements are the thumb holes and the mock neck.  I absolutely love the thumbs holes, particularly since I don't want to carry or wear gloves when I run, these are the perfect solution and keep my hands dry and warm.  The higher neckline offers increased protection from rain and cold temperatures.

Since I liked the way it performed for me pre-race, I decided to wear it during the race.  Through the rain, cold weather, and perspiration, its performance and durability stood up to the elements!  As the base layer closest to my body, I was happy that I was never affected by moisture or cold.

Merino wool is naturally breathable, warm, odor-resistant, and great at temperature regulation. As I heat up, my top breathes, wicks, and helps my body stay warm enough without overheating.   I enjoy wearing a top made from a natural fiber and it's a nice bonus that I don't have to wash this top very often.

Bottom Line: I'm not the only one who loves this top. It was named in Gear Junkie's Top 10 Gear of the Year Awards for 2008!--H.H. (Jan 09)
