Dansko Calla Shoe : Lotsa Sole

I'm not usually a fan of clogs, much less clog-shoes, but Dansko's Calla shoe is a step above the rest.

Dansko has transformed the clunky clog into a comfortable, streamlined shoe that actually looks narrow on (and fits) my wide foot. Thank you! Women who want healthy feet shouldn't be doomed to clunky shoes.

What I love most about this shoe is the incredible sole. Dansko takes support and stability seriously, incorporating a shank into many of its shoes. They also use a densely cushioned energy-return midsole material that makes most shoes seem flimsy in comparison.

The result is a rocker sole that provides excellent cushioning and support. With each step, the foot rolls or "rocks" from heel to toe, without twisting to the side or flexing excessively at the forefoot. The soles are very firm; I can walk around all day in these shoes without foot soreness or fatigue because the sole actually protects my foot from impact. It's like wearing a shoe with the sole of a hiking boot.

I also like that the Calla has a removable insole so I can wear my custom-made orthotics in them.

The Calla is available in leather, oiled leather, and nubuck leather, in a variety of colors.

Bottom Line: Dansko makes top quality shoes, and it's nice to see that they're finding ways to design good-for-your-feet shoes that are also attractive.--E. D. (April 07)
