Birkenstock Calgary Boots : Pure Comfort
From the time I bought my first pair of Birkenstock sandals, some time back in the late '80's, I've longed for shoes and boots with the same supportive cork footbed. Now Birkenstock sells a wide variety of casual, outdoor, and dress shoes. I wear the Calgary boots on my daily walks and in my weekly visits to a nearby park with 3 mile loop trail. The arch support is incredible. With a negative heel cup, and substantial arch support through the instep and metatarsal areas, my feet feel cradled and supported with every step. (I replaced the "regular" contoured footbeds with a high arch pair, which are available via special order from Birkenstock). Rugged, Waterproof Made out of leather and a waterproof, breathable material, the Calgary boots keep your feet dry, but also allows them to breathe. The rubber tread is much denser and durable than the tread on Birkenstock sandals, for obvious reasons, and have good traction on wet pavement. Bottom Line: Birkenstock is coming out with new models of hiking boots and shoes. I think they're well worth a look, especially if you have sore feet. My feet are never as comfortable in any shoes as they are walking in a pair of Birks.--E. D.
