Asics Compression Sleeveless Top : For Serious Performance
Before trying on the Asics Compression Sleeveless running top, I figured that "compression" was a bit of an overstatement. Compression suggests substantial force. How could a shirt that weighs next to nothing deliver that? Then I tried it on. First, I said, "Wow." Second, I tried to lift my car over my head. Okay, maybe I overstate a bit, but I did say "wow" to myself, and whenever I wear my Asics Compression Sleeveless, I really do feel a bit stronger than I actually am. The Compression Sleeveless is a shirt whose fit and feel seem to demand some kind of serious performance. The shirt provides my torso with an uncanny sense of support--I almost feel as if I'm being sculpted, urged towards an improved form of myself. The Compression Sleeveless seems to tell my muscles that they were made to work; they're not just along for the ride. Needless to say, the Compression Sleeveless is an ideal workout shirt--and not just because it puts me in the mood. The fabric is silky smooth yet obviously built to withstand punishment. To maintain the shirt's remarkable elasticity and fit, elaborate seams hold sections together--seams that add to the shirt's aesthetic yet are invisible to the skin. Though made from material that seems almost weirdly dense, the Compression Sleeveless is both lightweight and breathable. I've found it to be the perfect base layer under my cycling gear, especially when I'm racing in a skinsuit and want something underneath to move moisture away while not undermining, but in fact enhancing, my skinsuit's skintight aerodynamic fit. It's also a great choice for the weight room. I enjoy the sense of support it gives my muscles when I lift weights. Like I said before, the shirt gives a certain illusion of strength. What the shirt doesn't do is hide you. When you wear the Compression Sleeveless nothing is left to the imagination, though it is very effective at covering back hair. Bottom LIne: High performance shirt that makes you want to get after it. Great as a base layer or as a stand alone workout shirt. Just don't listen too closely to the Asics Compression Sleeveless--you might hurt yourself.--D.C.
