Alo Sport Performance Pant

I recently test Alo's new line of Coolfit bottoms, and was way impressed. They are built for high-intensity aerobic workouts, and they do the trick just right.

I tried out both the Perforamnce Pants and the Wave Shorts; the pants are fit just like the shorts, but with a zippered ankle, which I like. I can unzip the ankle to get better airflow up my legs, and I also like being able to put my pants on over my shoes -- yes, I forget about sequences sometimes. 

I put the bottoms through their paces on a recent trip to Mexico, where I wound up doing a lot of running on the beach. The humid weather was the perfect place to see how the Alo gear performed because breathability and good moisture wicking properties were paramount. I used the shorts on runs during the day and the pants on runs at night. 

First of all, I liked how light Alo's clothing is. I try not to run in cotton, but on the rare occasion I do run in it I realize how heavy it is. Alo's bottoms are featherweight. I also liked how smooth the pants and shorts felt against my skin. There was no possibility they'd chafe me because they honestly felt like silk. I attribute this to the proprietary Coolfit fabric -- it's a nice synthetic weave that wicks moisture like a wet vac.

I also noticed that there's a lot of elasticity in the fabric, which gave me great freedom of movement. This came into play on the beach when I was jumping around on the sand trying to avoid each incoming wave. Last, despite the mugginess of the Riviera Maya, and the fact that I didn't wash these things once, they didn't smell. They've got an antimicrobial treatment that prevents odors. Gotta love that.

The pants are true to size, not too baggy, and have well-placed pockets. I'm excited to log lots of miles in the shorts as summer approaches.
