Ahnu Belgrove Shoe : For Men and Women

I've received so many compliments on my new Ahnu Belgrove shoes that I don't really trust at least one friend from "borrowing" them from me. So, I'm not taking them off any time soon.

Because of an old foot injury, I usually wear a much thicker-soled shoe, even if I'm just out and about and not likely to do much walking. So, the Belgrove is a whole new footwear experience for me. And I like it!

First, I really like the retro styling. The Belgrove looks like a hybrid bowling shoe/cycling shoe. The two tone nubuck uppers are hip and subtle, with just enough yellow accent color flecks in the shoe laces (as well as contrast stitching).

Second, these shoes feel great. They're like slippers or moccasins, but still have enough sole that my bad foot doesn't flare up even if I wear them all day. I feel like I glide from heel to toe with each step. Usually in a shoe with a less-than-hiking-boot-stiff sole, my foot starts aching after an hour. No so with the Belgrove shoes. I appreciate the removable insoles, which I have replaced with my full-length custom-made orthotic.

Third, I just can't seem to take them off. I feel like they've molded to my feet. It probably sounds silly, but when I'm wearing them I feel like I could run soundlessly through the forest, scrambling over boulders and bounding over streams with ease. Kinda nice for a city shoe!

Sizes: Women's - 6-11; three colors. Men's sizes 7-14, three colors. (I tested the men's shoe, and found it to run 1/2 size small.)

Bottom Line: A sleek urban shoe that I've been wearing with shorts, pants, and skirts, and have a hard time taking off at the end of the day.-E.D. (Oct 09)
